Hidden in plain sight on the chest of this shirt is a message written in the Adinkra alphabet — a 3,000 year old West African visual language that most people will never recognise.

The symbol at the centre of this design is GYAWU ATIKO — the back of the head of Gyawu, a great warrior chief known for never retreating in battle. In Adinkra culture this symbol represents valor, courage, and the willingness to walk forward into the unknown without looking back. The encoded text beneath the design translates to one thing: Valor carved this path.
